POTENTIAL SCATTERING on R 3 ⊗ S 1

چکیده
In this paper we consider non-relativistic quantum mechanics on a space with an additional internal compact dimension, i.e. R 3 ⊗S 1 instead of R 3. More specifically we study potential scattering for this case and the analyticity properties of the forward scattering amplitude, T nn (K), where K 2 is the total energy and the integer n denotes the internal excitation of the incoming particle. The surprising result is that the analyticity properties which are true in R 3 do not hold in R 3 ⊗ S 1. For example, T nn (K), is not analytic in K for ImK > 0, for n such that (|n|/R) > µ, where R is the radius of S 1 , and µ −1 is the exponential range of the potential, V (r, φ) = O(e −µr) for large r. We show by explicit counterexample that T nn (K) for n = 0, can have singularities on the physical energy sheet. We also discuss the motivation for our work, and briefly the lesson it teaches us.

In this paper we consider the Schrödinger operator in R 3 with a long-range magnetic potential associated to a magnetic field supported inside a torus T. Using the scheme of smooth perturbations we construct stationary modified wave operators and the corresponding scattering matrix S(λ). We prove that the essential spectrum of S(λ) is an interval of the unit circle depending only on the magneti...

Consider the Schrödinger equation in R with the compactly supported potential q (x) , x ∈ R. The problem of the reconstruction of the function q (x) from measurements of the solution of that equation on a certain set is called “inverse scattering problem”. In this paper we prove uniqueness theorems for some 3-d inverse scattering problems in the case when only the modulus of the complex valued ...
متن کاملRapid, accurate calculation of the s-wave scattering length.
Transformation of the conventional radial Schrödinger equation defined on the interval r ∈ [0, ∞) into an equivalent form defined on the finite domain y(r) ∈ [a, b] allows the s-wave scattering length a(s) to be exactly expressed in terms of a logarithmic derivative of the transformed wave function φ(y) at the outer boundary point y = b, which corresponds to r = ∞. In particular, for an arbitr...

If A q (β, α, k) is the scattering amplitude, corresponding to a potential q ∈ L 2 (D), where D ⊂ R 3 is a bounded domain, and e ikα·x is the incident plane wave, then we call the radiation pattern the function A(β) := A q (β, α, k), where the unit vector α, the incident direction, is fixed, and k > 0, the wavenumber, is fixed. It is shown that any function f (β) ∈ L 2 (S 2), where S 2 is the u...
متن کاملCalculation of the triple and double cross sections in the proton-hydrogen impact at the ionization channel by removing singularity in the scattering amplitudes
In the present work, the triple and double cross sections of atomic hydrogen ionization in collision with the proton are calculated. The potential of the interaction is considered as a Coulombic; also, the first and second order Born approximations have been used. The singularity of the Green operator in the second order approximation has been removed for the analytical solution of the scatt...
